Developing a project charter does not have to be hard. Too few project start without having a clear definition of what they should be expected to accomplish.
The purpose of the charter is to:
• Overview of the project
• Summary description of the project
• Signatures needed to approve the project
• Authorizes a project manager to utilize organizational resources for the sake of the project
It is typically prepared by the Project Sponsor, Project Initiator, or Project Management Office (PMO) or person with the authority to commit organizational resources and funding to the project.
